Our erstwhile and dearly beloved President Bush, having found one of his testicles behind the couch, FINALLY gets around to attempting to begin to consider taking the correct course of action by deploying 6000 National Guard Troops to aid ICE in securing our Southern Border in Name Only (SBNO) and the ACLU races with all haste to try to undermine the deployment by whining incessantly and lying to the American people.
“Oh-ho” you say, along with “Kender? How can you say that the ACLU is LYING to the goodly citizens of the United States?”
Here’s how, and as usual, it is attributable to The Queen of the ACLU, The Beauty of the Bill of Rights, the Nancy of the Nine Amendments (ask him, there is no Second Amendment) Anthony Romero:
“Turning immigration enforcement policy into another military operation is not the answer. The president’s proposed deployment of National Guard troops violates the spirit of the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits the military from getting into the business of civilian law enforcement.
I made it real big so you would catch it, but how many of you actually caught it?
Actually the question should be how many of you even know about it?
SEC. 15. From and after the passage of this act it shall not be lawful to employ any part of the Army of the United States, as a posse comitatus, or otherwise, for the purpose of executing the laws, except in such cases and under such circumstances as such employment of said force may be expressly authorized by the Constitution or by act of Congress; and no money appropriated by this act shall be used to pay any of the expenses incurred in the employment of any troops in violation of this section And any person willfully violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof shall be punished by fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars or imprisonment not exceeding two years or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Let me repeat that.
except in such cases and under such circumstances as such employment of said force may be expressly authorized by the Constitution or by act of Congress;
Got that? Never mind the fact that the since the Posse Comitatus Act is an AMERICAN LAW it should logically only apply to AMERICAN CITIZENS!!!!! But applying our laws to criminal aliens is a fight that the ACLU has won….for the moment.
But we all know that where the ACLU is concerned logic has nothing to do with it.
I propose the radical concept that it is SPECIFICALLY the job of the federal government to secure the border, and if we need National Guard Troops to accomplish that goal then that is what needs to get done. If these millions of criminal aliens were coming across with guns and in uniform would the ACLU demand that Bush not send the military to stop the invasion?
I bet they would.
In WW2 the current ACLU would have been suing the government for placing anti-aircraft guns on the coast (many of those were placed on private property with the owners blessings) and demanding that blackout rules be abolished because forcing one to turn out the lights during a possible air raid would put them in danger of tripping on something in the dark, thereby depriving them of their right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Of course, the ALCU is more than happy to let someone pursue their personal happiness in the dark, often times even when it involves children, but that is a rant for another day.
The fact of the matter is that the government has failed us by refusing to secure the border, and we have been invaded. The ACLU is doing everything in their power to stop the government from doing ITS’ JOB and in the process making us all a little less safe with each and every day that goes by.
I was impressed with President Bush’s speech lastnight. He did’t get out of it though without looking like a jackass, thanks to CNN. CNN cut to his rehersal speech for some reason, Bush was in mid-sentence then stopped to look over at an advisor or something before CNN left the video feed. Expose The Left has video of the error made by CNN.
Anyway, Bush made some great points in his speech lastnight. I watched most of it, although I missed the first 5 minutes or so. He’s basically attempting to make it nearly impossible for businesses to hire illegals. Along with that, a beefed up border patrol force will add security to the mexican-american border.
The National Guard has 6000 troops en-route to the border. There was footage on the local news lastnight of illegals getting all upset about National Guard troops being deployed. They claim we’re militarizing the mexican border. Sorry guys, but that’s not the case. The National Guard is there to provide support to border patrol. Bush specifically said lastnight that the National Guard wouldn’t play a role in directly enforcing laws. Any laws being enforced will still be done so by the border patrol, not the Guard.
Bush’s plan is pretty viable, from what I can tell. There’s no way we can deport 11 million illegals, it’s just not a possibility, although I wish it were. Those who are currently working illegally in the United States will have to go through all the legal channels before they’re “legal” to work. How many of them will do so? Not many probably. Richard at Hyscience doesn’t think Bush’s plan is so great, it’s too little too late for him.
None of this will work without participation from the entire business community. And the business community needs help from the government. Document fraud is everywhere. There’s currently no way for a company to prove that the documents given to them haven’t been forged. This is where the bio-metric cards Bush mentioned lastnight come into play. A fingerprint can’t be forged, not easily anyway.
I’m thankful we’re where we currently are on this immigration debate. I, for one, had doubts we would even reach this point. It’s clear drastic changes need to be made to our immigration policies. If not that, then we need to at least start policing our border with Mexico. I think we’re on the right path though, Bush’s plan is achievable and provides the means to enforce what illegals do once inside the country. Let’s face it, there’s always going to be a steady supply of illegals flowing from Mexico to the U.S. Hopefully this won’t open up an even more deadly black market in which illegals are traded back and forth…
A jury decided yesterday that Zacarias Moussaoui doesn’t deserve death for the hand he played in the 9/11 attacks. How the fuck did they come to that conclusion? They should have killed him.
The jurors deliberated for 41 hours over a seven day period before they came to the life sentence verdict. Quite the waste of time I’d say. I really can’t understand how these jurors decided to not kill this guy off.
This guy played a hand in killing 3000+ people. There’s people sitting on death-row right now that have committed crimes far less heinous than those commited by Moussaoui. And some of those people are probably on death-row for crimes they didn’t commit. Moussaoui clearly played a role and he gets life in prison, not death. I’d say he got a pretty sweet deal.
But knowing these religious fanatic types, he’d rather die than be in prison for the rest of his life. So maybe life in prison is a better punishment for this guy. To give him death would be to let him off the hook.
Moussaoui’s mother is blaming “racist american” for the conviction of her son. How fucking silly is that? The dude had a goal of killing Americans. We have every right to convict him, and much worse really.
“If Moussaoui doesn’t deserve to die for his crimes, almost no one currently on death row does. Those who argue that the current system of capital punishment is arbitrary and capricious have much more ammunition now.”
There’s already been lots of coverage on this topic, so I’ll just throw you over to those who already have a good amount of content. The Political Pit Bull has a huge post with many updates including reaction from bloggers and quotes. Stop the ACLU has a nice round of quotes along with a whole bunch of related posts.
ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (Reuters) – A defiant Zacarias Moussaoui was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, one day after a jury spared his life and rejected U.S. government arguments that the September 11 conspirator should be executed.
“God curse America,” Moussaoui shouted right before U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema imposed the sentence. “God save Osama bin Laden. You’ll never get him.”
heh, now that’s funny. Have a good ole time in federal-pound-me-in-the-ass-prison there Moussaoui. Maybe one day Osama will be able to wear your ass on his head as a turbin. After it’s all gaping and droopy and shit from the pounding of course…
There’s been an enormous amount of immigration talk lately. Congress is currently looking at various immigration reform proposals. Newt Gingrich thinks the U.S. should just start enforcing our current immigration laws, which really would make the most sense.
Apparently, President Bush “generally favors plans to give millions of illegal immigrants a chance at U.S. citizenship without leaving the country, but does not want to be more publicly supportive because of opposition among conservative House Republicans, according to senators who attended a recent White House meeting.” Granting amnesty to illegals would probably force me to move out of the country for good. Although, this could possibly result in a huge voter turnout by hispanics in favor of republicans.
I’ll be writing more about immigration in the next couple days, and how the mexican-american population usually manages to sabotage their own agenda.
Ben Domenech has had a rough few days. He started off taking shit for his new Red America blog over at WaPo. Then he’s called a bigot for some blog posts he made a while back at Red State.
Now, he’s been forced to resign from his position at WaPo due to plagiarism charges (also posted at official WaPo Blog). It was probably a good idea for him to step down. Lots of people from both sides wanted to see him go.
All-in-all, this sucks. Had there not been such a huge initial furor over Ben and WaPo, Red America would still be around. I understand peoples anger about Ben though. He did plagiarize, losing Red America are the consequences of his actions. Too bad.
