Obnoxious Hurricane Katrina Quotes

John Hawkins at Right Wing News has compiled a list of the top 20 most obnoxious Katrina hurricane quotes. Yah, it’s a right of center site, but the republicans aren’t safe. He’s got obnoxious quotes from both the left and the right.

I wonder if these people actually believe what they said or if they were just saying it to get a reaction out of people. Doesn’t really matter I guess because they said it, and most of it’s really funny.

Anyone have any news on the blackout yesterday in Los Angeles? Saw something about it on Fark but never really saw anything else anywhere. Last I knew there was still no known cause.

UPDATE: OK, GOP Vixen has news on the blackout in Los Angeles. Turns out an electrical worker cut the wrong line, bet he feels like a dumb ass. Mark in Mexico has an illustration of the cutting if you care to take a look.

How Dare You President Bush?

This is too good to pass up. Everyone in the world knows that George W. Bush is to blame for basically every problem the world has. It’s just a fact. For example: The Iowa vs. Iowa State game is this weekend in Ames. It’s entirely Bush’s fault it’s in Ames. Now I won’t be able to get around quickly to my usual destinations. In relation to that I’ll end up spending more money on gasoline. It’s in Ames because there’s a slightly higher black population in Iowa City rather than in Ames. And you know, Bush hates black people, so the fewer the better. I’m just glad to see that our president is able to keep on top of so many things.

Yah, I don’t really have much talent for satire, so I’ll just let you read the good stuff for yourself. This is the first time I’ve seen Six Meat Buffet “lash out” at president Bush like this. ;)

Bush is getting blamed for basically everything. It’s not even humanly possible for one man to be responsible for everything people are blaming on him. It’s sad but also totally funny. The left in this country will believe anything they read on Daily Kos or Democratic Underground. Their brains have gotta be almost totally wasted away.

Kanye West has Diarrhea

Kanye West said some really stupid shit on NBC lastnight. The video (via Riehl World View) is quite funny. I feel bad for Mike Myers though, he didn’t look to happy with Kanye’s statements. Basically, Kanye feels that President Bush “doesn’t care about black people.” He goes on to basically say that the U.S. governments goal is to kill black people in areas effected by Katrina. A lot of what he says isn’t really intelligible, he’s got some serious shit just pouring out of his mouth.

Personally, I think Kanye West is a racist. I’ve listened to enough of his music to know that he’s got some serious issues with white people. He likes to think that the entire establishment is out to get him and blacks in general. He’s seriously paranoid.

Anyone with half a brain can figure out why there’s so many black people in the areas hit by Katrina. Especially in New Orleans. Just look at the numbers. In the 2000 census, 67.25% of the New Orleans population was black. Does the census include poor people? I doubt it, but I dunno. With those numbers, I’d say it’s pretty safe to say that a majority of the poor population in New Orleans is also black. Why’s that? It’s not because they’re black you fucking retards Kanye and Jesse Jackson. It’s simply due to the fact that more black people live there than any other race. It’s not hard to comprehend. I wonder if Kanye finished school cuz it’s really a pretty basic principle.

Confederate Yankee has a press release from the Red Cross in response to Kanye’s comments on NBC. PunditGuy feels for Mike Myers too, as everyone probably does. Dave at Garfield Ridge has various updates. In one of the updates he mentions Chris Tucker at the end. I thought that was Chris Tucker, video is pretty blurry though. Mad Dog Vinnie’s comment at Six Meat Buffet is hilarious. This reminded Tony of an old SNL skit involving Mike Myers. I can’t say I recall that skit, but he’s got a transcript from the SNL.

I’m sorta late on this one as I was probably sleeping when this was on NBC lastnight. It’s too good to resist posting though. And it seems that I’m one of the few people in the blogosphere who knows who Kanye West is. He’s a rapper, and he’s actually really good. I used to listen to him a lot when I had my subs and amp in my car, mostly cuz his songs had massive bass lines. Now I just look down on him though as another Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton wannabe.

Politicizing Katrina

The left is taking full advantage of Katrina for their Bush-bashing agenda. All of their theories so far basically revolve around Bush “stealing” money away from the New Orleans levee system to fund the war in Iraq.

Too bad for them the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers came out today stating that “the decision to build levees for a Category 3 hurricane was made decades ago based on a cost-benefit analysis.” Tell that to any lefty and they’ll refute the evidence as though it doesn’t even exist. All the links above go to Rob’s Say Anything.

Along with stealing money away from the New Orleans levee system, Bush also brought this on by not having strict enough environmental regulations. Not really, but that’s what the left would have you think. It’s not like Katrina was a freak of nature that was produced due to crappy environmental conditions. It was a level 4 hurricane when it hit the coast.

And how are they gonna blame current president Bush for the environment? The environment doesn’t change just like that in 6 years. These changes occur very slowly over a long period of time. So, even if Bush did tighten pollution laws, we probably wouldn’t see the desired effects for 30 or 40 years. I was listening to Cindy Sheehan blame all this on Bush the other night. She was taking the “Bush destroyed our clean atmosphere and is causing all these freak storms to pop up out of now where” stance. She’s totally off her rocker. And that picture of her with Rev. Al Sharpton bout made me noxious.

Others speaking about the politicizing of Katrina include Blogs for Bush and Patrick Ruffini. Both are very worthwhile reads.

So, enough of that for now. I’ll continue with some updated Katrina news. Outside The Beltway is reporting that a massive explosion ripped through New Orleans this morning. The explosion was at some sort of chemical depot. Apparently a huge fire is now burning. James also has news of the Louisiana governor ordering National Guard troops to shoot and kill looters. This could end up being a huge deal. I have to wonder if the National Guard will really shoot and kill looters. Some will probably refuse the orders. I for one never thought I’d witness National Guard troops opening fire on American citizens. But, times definately aren’t “typical” down there.

HurricAid has a link to a scanner feed from New Orleans. I’ve been listening to it for the last half an hour or so. A few minutes ago some guy was on there saying they’re getting ready to drop a bunch of cell phones to people. Not sure if the people were at the convention center or what. And they just had some kid on there that’s looking for his dad. They ended up giving the kid a phone number of the shelter his father was at.

Riehl World View has reports of a 5.1 magnitude earthquake in southern California. Unfortunately there’s not really much information on that at this time.

Blogging for Relief

Since the international community doesn’t seem to want to help us, I will try to contribute what I can to survivors in LA/MS/AL. Instapundit and NZ Bear has organized a Blog For Relief Day (today). Bloggers select a charity and they suggest their readers donate to said charity.

My charity of choice was the American Red Cross, mostly because I feel they’re large enough they could make a huge impact given they have the funds needed to do so. If you do decide to donate, please follow up with NZ Bear here letting them know how much you donated and which blog referred you. Any amount will help. Also checkout Instapundit’s roundup page.

Needless to say, the situation in New Orleans doesn’t sound good. Martial Law has been declared. Gangs are roaming the streets, some reported to have AK-47’s. Prisoners have been let out of the prisons. Shootings are taking place on the streets.

Thousands of people are feared to be dead (via Riehl World View). Officials believe once the levy broke, many people went to their attics of their one story homes. Once the water reached them, they would be trapped and would have little hope for survival. Very sad if true. We’ll find out for sure once officials are able to start searching homes for the dead.

Now for some linkage.

The Jawa Report has info on a missing persons site. Wizbang! has more infomration on the Blog For Relief Day. Confederate Yankee has a hurricane survival guide, it’s still hurricane season people. HurricAid has details on FEMA for people that might need their services. BLACKFIVE has word of Louisana Army National Guard members returning home from combat zones to see their home towns basically gone. They also note that Soldiers’ Angels are accepting donations to help with Katrina relief efforts.

UPDATE:
FEMA is suspending it’s rescue operations due to danger to the rescuers. The lawless environment is proving too brutal for their rescue crews to work under. That’s according to CNN anyway. The HurricAid website says FEMA is in need of additional people. They’re looking for 400 people and are paying $15.00/hour.

That’s it for now. I’ll post more later if there’s more to post. I’m sure there will be.

Roundup

I’ve been hella busy lately. Hence the lack of posting since the weekend. Since time is short, I’ll direct you over to The Jawa Report where Howie has put together a nice summary of news events today. Covering everything from Iraq to Katrina to Able Danger. And a mention of cops (the popo) looting in areas affected by Katrina. Sorry, but that’s just wrong. Those dirty little piggies.
