It just works!

I updated my wordpress install today to the latest 1.5.1-alpha version. Doing that removed the changes I made to the functions-post.php file. It seems they’ve fixed all the problems I’ve mentioned.

I get e-mail now when someone posts a comment, which never happened before. Didn’t have to uncomment those few lines in functions-post.php either. I’m glad to see such quick fixes.

I went into work in Ankeny this morning at 7:00. I had to get up at 5:30 though, so that was really crappy. I haven’t been up that early in quite a while. I didn’t get to bed lastnight till about 3:00 either, so I’m really starting to fall behind on my sleep now. Work is getting better now though, we’ve got the order verification system working pretty much perfectly. I just have to build a query in Access to determine milk orders for certain clients based on the number of meals they order. Fun fun!

Wankers

Someone stole the label PC from work lastnight. It happened after 11:00 pm, because there was a fresh backup from that pc on the backup server this morning.

The last kitchen shift leaves at midnight. It was probably one of the mexicans on that shift. Only the tower was gone.

There’s a parallel port “key” that we need to have so our label printing software will work. The theif just unplugged the cable from the key instead of taking the key and cable off at the same time. So, the key that we need is still on the stolen PC.

I setup another pc to replace it early this morning only to realize that I needed that key. The only way we can get another is by purchasing the software again, which costs $700.

I’ve had to buy 2 pc’s in the last 2 days now.

Misc.

It looks like the grsecurity kernel patch is back for a while…they ended up pulling in a few sponsors. It made me feel good to see the companies that use grsecurity supply some money so grsecurity can continue to be developed.

Also, I’ve been interviewing for a job at Moms Meals. I originally applied for a managerial position with them, but when I went in for an interview it turned out they needed a computer guy. It sounds like they have some big changes planned for their IT stuff. They talked like they wanna have me be the IT Director for a few months and then later on bring someone else in to be the “real” IT director. The other person would be used for planning and that type of stuff, and my job would then become doing all the programming and system administration. The programming and system administration is something I’d rather do anyway, they better not cut my wages…assuming I get the job. Last time I talked to Ernie, he said he still had to check my references and wanted to get me in there ASAP.

DJ Pi should be releasing Trance Empire Vol 9 sometime this week. Again, he’s just waiting for the cover art to get finished up. The Dj Pi website (www.djpi.net) is having some trouble with the forum. Since I moved the forum from my server to the actual djpi.net server, the forum’s mail functions have stopped working. So, we can’t send e-mail through the forum anymore. The company that hosts djpi.net is starting to really irritate me. They NEVER reply to any of my support e-mails.

General crap

My brother graduated from high school last sunday. It’s a good thing he didn’t get any suspensions towards the end of school, or his graduting might not have happened.

I’ve also been interviewing at Ortho II in Ames. I’d be building and fixing computers for their orthodontic clients. Support phone calls would also be part of my duty. It looks like a fun place to work, quite laid back. I really hope I get that job.

DJ Pi is also about to release Trance Empire Vol 8. He uploaded it to me the other day and I think he’s planning to release it sometime tomorrow. As usual, it will be available on the tracker. Also on the tracker are a couple new Doboy mixes, including Trancequility 30 and Vocal Edition 11.

Also, the DJ Pi website is getting closer to being finished. It looks really good so far!!

I might puke

The Bush Labor Department began “giving employers tips on how to avoid paying overtime to some of the 1.3 million low-income workers.”

I read that at some site called Misleader.org. There was a link to it on Slashdot. The article on Misleader.org is a pretty interesting read. They’ve got more links on their page, here’s the article:

Work

I’ve been submitting resumes like crazy, to everyone. I recently had an interview at Donnelley Marketing in Ames. I had my interview with Rachelle, who was my supervisor when I worked at Winning Solutions. She told me they have changed their focus from websites to hardware and networks. She also suggested that I send my resume to them again. Hopefully I hear back from them soon.

There’s a horrible lack of jobs around here that interest me at all. Maybe I’ll go to bar tending school.
