Bloggers Encourage Paris Riots

Some bloggers in France have been detained for encouraging people to participate in the Paris riots. Doesn’t seem like a very smart thing to do given the situation. French bloggers are apparently split on this, some encouraging the riots, others attempting to bring peace and quiet. H/T Boing Boing.

Two bloggers have been detained by authorities in France on suspicion of encouraging people to take part in the Paris riots.

A 16-year-old French teenager and an 18-year-old of Ghanaian nationality are being questioned by Paris prosecutors, according to reports.

One of the blogs was called “sarkodead”, a reference to the interior minister and presidential contender, Nicholas Sarkozy, who referred to the rioters in disparaging terms and has been singled out for criticism by many French bloggers.

Boing Boing also points to an article written by Thomas Crampton (who’s been covering the riots) in which he discusses the role blogs and SMS (text messages) played in the riots in France.

This could make for some really interesting news when more information starts coming out. There’s a lot of talk about this going on at French blogs, but I don’t know French.

Hotel Suicide Bombings in Jordan - UPDATED

Three hotels in Amman, Jordan were the target of suicide bombers today. 23 57 people are known to have died while 120 300 people were injured. The hotels were popular among Israeli and Western toursits.

AMMAN (Reuters) - At least 23 people were killed and scores wounded on Wednesday when three suspected suicide bombers blew themselves up in three hotels in Amman, a security source said.

Reuters correspondents said there had been explosions at the Radisson SAS and Grand Hyatt hotels in Amman and the official Petra news agency said there had been a third blast at the Days Inn hotel in the city.

“At least 23 people were killed in the three blasts and many wounded,” a security source told Reuters.

Jordan’s interior minister, Awni Yarfas, who was at the Radisson hotel, told reporters: “There were explosions in the Hyatt and the Radisson … Yes, they were bombs.”

Police threw up roadblocks around the hotels, causing traffic chaos in the city, and Reuters television footage showed a fleet of ambulances and fire vehicles outside the buildings.

The blasts appeared to happen at much the same time.

Supposedly, a wedding was taking place in a banquet hall inside one of the hotels. There was some speculation over wether or not the bombs were pre-planted or if this was the result of suicide bombers. It seems to be generally accepted now that it was suicide bombers.

Could this somehow be related to or in response to the Paris riots? Could be, but I doubt it. Proabably just more islamic crazies blowing stuff up for the sake of blowing stuff up. And to murder as many zionist pigs as possible, which is usually their goal. Note I said “usually”, not “always”. And I said “islamic crazies” rather than “all muslims”. You liberal european bloggers can stop calling me islamaphobic now.

UPDATE 1: Wizbang has an update stating that FoxNews is reporting the death toll has risen to 57 with 115 people injured. Apparently the bombs at the Radisson and the Hyatt were suicide bombers. The Days Inn explosion was caused by a car bomb.

UPDATE 2: FoxNews is now reporting the number of injuries to be closer to 300 than 115.

European Intifada Getting Uglier

It’s obvious, that when taken at face value, the ongoing Intifada in Europe is a very bad thing. I think it’ll have it’s benefits when all is said and done though. That is, assuming Europe makes a solid commitment to fighting the war on terror after these riots. After 12 days worth of the insurgency it’s spread to around 300 other towns in France. Those towns aren’t just suburbs of Paris, they’re supposedly scattered throughout the country.

Other countries are now seeing muslim insurgencies of their own. Five cars were torched lastnight in Germany and Belgium. The authorities in Brussels won’t really say what the cause of the fire was, although I’d be suspect considering all 5 were burned in a Muslim neighborhood.

Will the whole of Europe be burning by next week? As was expected, the Muslim insurgency did not stop at the French borders. Last night five cars were torched in Berlin. The cars were set alight in five different streets of Moabit, an immigrant neighbourhood of Berlin, and the Tiergarten area, only a few kilometres away from the seat of the German government. The German police are investigating whether the incidents can be linked to the events in France. Meanwhile, the Berlin police announced that they will step up their presence.

I rant and rave quite a bit in the next few paragraphs, mostly staying on topic. If you’re here for the links you might want to skip the next five or so paragraphs.

I very much hope that Europe and other countries take this seriously. It’s especially dangerous in Europe due to the ease of country-to-country travel. I don’t think enough lives have been lost in France yet for those that hold power to take serious action. It’s sad, but that’s what it takes for some governments so decide they need to intervene. French and European authorities will make a serious and end-all decision eventually. What or when that’ll be is anyone’s guess. I’d like to know the true number of deaths in Paris, there’s a lot of headline reading “First Death Is Reported in Paris Riots.”

If L’Intifada is allowed to resume as-is too long, we’ll see similar insurgencies all throughout Europe and probably around the world. Should the government involved decide to get serious and lay the smack down I think they’ll all realize just how much they’re at risk. Support for the war on terror would be higher than it’s ever been. That’s the one huge, glaring positive coming from the growing Intifada.

Things like this get worse before they get better. And that’s because some governments don’t take violent events seriously enough until hundreds or thousands have died. It’s not the federal governments responsibility for an individuals safety when it’s blatantly obvious the envioronment is extremely hostile. Relying on any government for your immediate personal safety is asking for trouble though. Were I in immediate danger I would either start walkin or I’d head to the nearest gun shop. Sorry, got a little off-topic there, we’ll continue now.

It’s being suggested that the riots in France are an organized insurgency designed to “teach France to behave.”

PARIS, Sept 27 (AFP) - An Algerian Islamist organisation, the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), has issued a call for action against France which it describes as “enemy number one”, intelligence officials said Tuesday.

“The only way to teach France to behave is jihad and the Islamic martyr,” the group’s leader Abu Mossab Abdelwadoud, also own as Abdelmalek Dourkdal, was quoted as saying in an Internet message earlier this month.

“France is our enemy number one, the enemy of our religion, the enemy of our community,” he was quoted as saying.

France was mentioned 15 times in the text, and the Algerian government was also targeted, the officials said.

That’s disturbing for a number of reasons. The U.S. MSM has lead the public to believe that the United States is target numero uno. Maybe the “call for action against France” and resulting violence is meant as a distraction? Could probably afford them some rare opportunities to engage “the enemy” in much more violent ways elsewhere. Enough theorizing on the totally unknown, time for some links.

Patrick at Clarity and Resolve on the first death: “The vipers that old Europe has allowed to grow in its breast in the name of multiculturalism, are ready to devour their host.” That my friends, is some top-notch anti-jihad poetry. I had to share that.

Muslim “Rage Virus” Spreading Beyond France

Doesn’t the rioting and violence in France somewhat remind you of the movie 28 Days Later? Only the rage “virus” spreading across France and Europe is a psychological “virus” instead of the physical virus found in that movie. It’s a state of mind virus. It would be easy to confuse some of the images coming out of France with scenes in 28 Days Later.

We’re upon the 11th night of rioting in France now. So far an estimated 1300 vehicles have been torched and 350 some people have been arrested. Meanwhile President Jacques Chirac makes worthless threats of jail time for those found to be inciting violence or fear. I don’t think jail time is much of a concern for the rioters. It looks like the outraged Muslims are attempting to take over the country. Should that happen Jacques, you won’t have any prisons to put them in, nevermind losing control of your country to a Muslim population. France has to face reality here and stop fucking around and just end the damn thing. They are at war whether their administration will admit to it or not. How they should go about doing that is beyond me though. Peace offerings would just go un-noticed and using lethal force agains the rioters would just cause a much larger, global Muslim backlash.

Across France, 1,300 vehicles went up in flames overnight. For the first time, more than 30 were destroyed inside the city walls of Paris. Previously quiet towns such as Dreux, to the west, and the city of Nantes were also affected.

Police said 349 people had been arrested, including six youths caught stockpiling 90 Molotov cocktails in a disused police building south of Paris.

Despite the worst destruction since the riots started, a police spokesman called for a sense of proportion: “It’s 211 districts out of 36,000, so France is not burning.”

Authorities say drug traffickers and Islamist militants are helping organize the unrest, via the Internet and mobile phones, among the North and sub-Saharan African immigrant communities who make up a significant part of many suburban housing estates.

The violence has tarnished France’s image abroad, forcing Villepin to cancel a trip to Canada, while Russia and the United States have warned their citizens to avoid troubled suburbs.

Is anybody even aware of what exactly the rioters want? Do they feel neglected or is this seriously all because of the two electrocuted teens who obviously did something to cause the police to chase them? Suppose the two electrocuted teens really are the cause for the ongoing violence. If that is the case, it would seem the Muslim population there expects to be treated differently than everyone else by law enforcement. That could also be the reasons for them feeling neglected and wanting recognition. It’s not our fault they insist on being regarded as an almost totally different species. OK, now all you anti-america whackos can start sending me nasty e-mails and leaving totally non-relavent comments. I know the point I was trying to get across in this paragraph will be totally lost on you.

And now for some links to worthwhile blog posts regarding the subject. Curt at Flopping Aces is concerned about the rest of Europe, noting that Muslims in Denmark are starting to show some signs of aggression towards the government of the land in which they are living. Let the Islamic Intifada in Denmark begin! Curt also has a nice roundup of the events occuring up until November 4th, along with some pictures.

The Brussels Journal can offer more insight than I could as to why Muslims are rioting and what to do in order to diffuse the situation. I’ve really enjoyed reading their site over the past few days. They seem to have a very unique perspective.

The Chip Mathis Experience relates the riots and general civil unrest in France to a similar situation we could soon be in here in the United States. Chip is on to something there. I’ve witnessed first hand, multiple times, how Mexicans can act when in large groups. I can’t imagine the level of violence we would see in the U.S. if we were to start sending mass quantities of illegals back to Mexico.

Ace of Spades HQ speaks of the moltov cocktail factory and proceeds to totally kill the European theory suggesting 9/11 was caused by the United States’ refusal to sign the Kyoto Accords. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense at this point in history, now does it Europe?

I’ll continue to update this post until sometime tomorrow (Monday), adding links and commentary where needed. This is linked at Outside The Beltway and The Political Teen.

UPDATE 11/6 @ 6:25 pm CST: Reuters is reporting that Muslim rioters are now firing shots at police officers. H/T Jihad Watch.

Rioters fired shots at police in an 11th night of riots in France on Sunday, injuring 10 policemen, two of them seriously, police said.

Some 200 youths were lobbing stones and other objects at police in Grigny, south of Paris, a police spokesman said, adding that some of the rioters had fired at officers with shotguns, hitting 10 policemen.

Two officers were being treated in hospital, one with lead shot wounds to the throat, the other with wounds to a leg.

Asked whether the rioters could have killed someone, the spokesman said: “Probably not at this distance, but they could have caused bad injuries, or turn one of the officers blind.”

UPDATE 11/6 @ 8:50 pm CST: Jayson at PoliPundit is waiting for Michael Moore’s new documentary, he’s got some questions for the MSM and the French government too:

When will Michael Moore produce a movie about those impoverished Muslims living in France, along with a documentary about their penchant for shooting at French authorities and burning stuff to the ground?

Will Moore refer to the Islamo-French-o-bots as “freedom fighters” or as “rebels?”

Hopefully the use of guns won’t continue or grow worse in France. Previously, most of the violence was targetted towards non-living objects, this could mark an extremely deadly turning point in the mayhem. Here a little more info about shots fired at police officers. From Reuters via Yahoo News:

GRIGNY, France (Reuters) - Rioters fired shots at police and set hundreds of cars ablaze in an 11th night of violence in France on Monday, hours after
President Jacques Chirac vowed to restore order.

Ten policemen were injured, two of them seriously, when a group of youths fired at police with shotguns in Grigny, south of Paris, police said. One officer was treated with lead shot wounds to the throat, another suffered injuries to one leg.

“They really shot at officers. This is real, serious violence. It’s not like the previous nights. I am very concerned because this is mounting,” one police officer said.

Another spokesman said the shots could probably not have been fatal due to the distance from which they were fired, but were clearly capable of causing serious injury.

Police said at least 300 cars had been set ablaze in several towns across France and 37 people had been arrested.

The fresh violence came just hours after Chirac said the law would have the last word over the riots, making his first public comments since violence started in the poor suburbs on October 27.

France: To Hell in a Handbasket - UPDATED

Nine Ten nights of muslims rioting in the streets so far. All due to a couple kids who got in trouble by the cops and fled to a power station. Do cops in Paris just chase people for the hell of it? I doubt it.

The protests/rioting continues to grow more violent. 250 arrests were made lastnight alone, along with 900 vehicles getting torched.

ACHERES, France - Youths armed with gasoline bombs fanned out from Paris’ poor, troubled suburbs to shatter the tranquility of leafier towns, torching 900 vehicles, a nursery school and other targets, police said Saturday, in the worst wave of arson since the urban violence began more than a week ago.

Police were forced to adapt, deploying a helicopter and small teams of officers to chase down youths who sped from one attack to another in cars and on motorbikes. The new security tactics yielded more than 250 arrests during the ninth straight night of unrest.

The violence, which was originally concentrated in neighborhoods northeast of Paris with large immigrant populations, is forcing France to confront anger long-simmering in its suburbs, where many Africans and their French-born children live on society’s margins, struggling with unemployment, poor housing, racial discrimination, crime and a lack of opportunities.

The really bad thing here is the French government is pretty much helpless in getting the violence under control. Supposedly, some muslim groups are attempting to intervene, prolly just gonna issue a “fatwa” or two. We all know how that goes.

Weapons of Mass Destruction has a huge post covering the riots. They’re guessing that bringing an end to the riots may be the easy part for the French government.

A Blog for All notes the headlines here in the U.S. Not really much to be seen about the violence in France due to anti-american/bush protests going on in Argentina. That’s the liberal media for you. Gladly accepting all opportunities to bash Bush instead of covering stories that could have a major impact on all society. Israpundit says the English media is downplaying the violence in France too. You’d think they’d be a lot more gunshy considering what went down last July in London.

The Brussels Journal foresees the fall of France as we knew it. Could the voilence get to a point in which France is simply divided up? Seems unlikely, but anything can happen. Jihad Watch has more on the two-state solution.

These areas, which some compare to the “millet” system of the former Ottoman Empire, where each religious community (millet) conducted its own social and cultural life in its own neighbourhoods, exist not only in France, but also in Muslim neighbourhoods in Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and other countries.

Dan over at Riehl World View explains with great simplicity what’s going on and how fucking sad it is.

Whatever the circumstances - groups of thugs are rioting and destroying schools, warehouses and vehicles and the Prime Minister has them in for a chat. And this is one of the nation’s John Kerry was going to depend on for help in Iraq?

That is what it all boils down to in the end, groups of thugs bringing destruction and chaos for basically no reason at all. Fuckin kids shouldn’t have been running from the cops anyway. And like I said before, cops don’t chase people for no reason at all, they obviously did something to provoke the chase.

The Counterterrorism Blog quotes a police-union leader who seems to be quite worried, for good reason mind you.

A civil war is unfolding in Clichy-sous-Bois. We cannot handle the challenge any longer. Only the Army, trained and equipped for this type of mission, can intervene to stabilize the situation.

James Joyner at Outside The Beltway has various news clippings detailing lastnights events, as does Captains Quarters.

UPDATE 1: Jo looks at the definition of “rioting” and asks why it happens. I think she’s having trouble answering the same question I am: what the hell do the rioters think they’ll accomplish? Or, a more generic question would be “what’s the point?” I can’t wrap my mind around it. Perhaps if I were to go live in a Muslim society for a few months I would understand more…

Weapons of Mass Destruction started a new post on the subject due to the others getting too large and cluttered. I hate it when that happens…

UPDATE 2: Smantix over at Six Meat Buffet says “Death To France.” I think he may be onto something there…

When Hurricane Katrina nailed New Orleans, the French were kind enough to offer us a couple of generators and some cots. Let’s send them a hose or something. America’s Oldest Enemy deserves no less.

And my man Dan over at Riehl World View thinks I sound pissed. Did this post come across that way? It should have because I am pissed. The whole situation in France isn’t necessary and the damn kids obviously did something to provoke the cops. And the poor, oppressed, Muslim society acts like half of their population was wiped out by a nuke or something. Grow up Islam. I’ll gladly welcome you into the 21st century once you get your shit straight.

Laptops for Wounded Soldiers

I’m not resisting anymore. I wasn’t reisisting before really, Patrick’s post over at Clarity and Resolve lit a fire under my ass. Soldiers Angels is hosting Project Valour-IT.

Every cent raised for Project Valour-IT goes directly to the purchase and shipment of laptops, software and equipment for the wounded servicemembers.

Currently we are forming “libraries” of laptops equipped with the voice-controlled software for wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines at each major military medical center to check out during their stay. Copies of the voice-controlled software for use on home computers are also available to servicemembers who still need it as they leave the medical center. In special circumstances, a laptop may be provided to a soldier for his or her permanent use.

Each fully equipped laptop will cost an estimated $685 (plus shipping), thanks to retailer discounts. Thus, the first two phases will require an estimated budget of about $110,000. Full implementation will require an estimated budget of $600,000 (click here for specs and estimated/expected costs).

They’re working to get notebooks for injured servicemen/servicewomen. You can’t argue with that, you just can’t. Don’t even attempt to cuz it’ll piss me off. When I signed up, the Air Force team had the fewest team members, so I joined that team, along with Conservative Thinking and The Jawa Report, two of my all-time favorite blogs. Mudville Gazette is heading up all the efforts on behalf of the Air Force team, so you might want to donate via their site.

These people give their limbs, mobility, and large portions of their lives to defending our freedoms. What better way to show a sign of appreciation for all their sacrifices than donating to get them some laptops? Everyone needs a laptop, especially these guys/gals. Donate below or over at Mudville Gazette.

UPDATE: I almost forgot. Make sure you check out the Valor-IT blog for the latest updates on their progress. After 3 days of fund raising, over $25,500 has been raised. Not too shabby. Now on to the donations…
