September Straw Poll

Patrick Ruffini is conducting his September straw poll. Head over to that link to cast your votes.

He’s doing it slightly differently this time. Everything is basically the same except this poll features tagging. You can tag your vote like you’d tag a post for technorati or tag a picture for flickr.

The results from last months straw poll are available. Giuliani is kickin ass and taking names.

It’s About Damn Time!

Google is finally indexing the longren.org domain. I think it took right about 6 months for longren.org to start showing up in regular Google search results. Now maybe I’ll get more referrals from people searching google rather than just people searching google blogsearch.

The longren.org domain has a pagerank of 5. When I was at my old URL I had a PR of 3 I believe.

I had a lot more to do this weekend than I originally thought. After we got back from Cedar Rapids on Saturday, I came into work for about 3 hours. Then Ashley and I went to see The Nadas at Peoples Bar in Ames. Amber, Ashleys sister wanted to take her to that as a little birthday gift. Katie, one of their friends ended up getting an OWI, went to jail and doesn’t have a license anymore. I kinda felt bad, but not really.

And most of yesterday was spent playing Tiger Woods 2006. It’s wicked fun, my favorite one of em all so far. JV bought it Friday and brought it over yesterday. Now that I think about it, he may have forgotten it in my Xbox, so I may have something to look forward to when I get home this evening.

Lets get outta here

Ashley and I are goin to Cedar Rapids in like 3 minutes. Only about a 2.5 hour drive. Not too bad of a drive. Goin up there for a “house-warming” party. I’ll be back blogging tomorrow, cuz, well, I gotta go into work for a few hours. Bah!

Wicked Katrina Photos

California Conservative has some really wicked looking photos of hurricane Katrina as it was making landfall. One of their readers submitted the photos. I’m not gonna post them here, just head over to California Conservative to check them out.

The second picture is 100% pure amazing. I can’t believe how high the cloud walls extend. Very, very good pictures. Check em out.

UPDATE:
Peenie Wallie brought to my attention these aren’t Katrina photos. Just various weather phenomenon photos. Still worth taking a look at.

Bush is Drunk

Not really, but the National Enquirer says he’s started drinking again. “Bush Drinking” is one of the top searches on Technorati currently. One of the few blogs I can find actually writing about the subject is Immigration Watchdog.

Not sure why Bush drinking is a big deal, people have been serving drunk probably since this country was founded. I’d be able to identify more with Bush if he did have a nip every now and then. I doubt wether he actually started drinking again, it’s the freakin National Enquirer.

Brian Flemming has word of this too. He’s got a related post about Bush’s bathroom note debating what he was drinking in a glass he’s holding in a photo. None of it makes any sense to me.

Rita Evac Bus Explodes

Via Sister Toldjah.

DALLAS — As many as 20 nursing home patients were killed early Friday when a busload of elderly Hurricane Rita evacuees from Houston caught fire then was rocked by a series of explosions on gridlocked Interstate 45, a Dallas County Sheriff’s spokesman said.

The bus loaded with 43 passengers was engulfed with flames, causing a 17-mile backup on a freeway that was already heavily congested with evacuees from the Gulf Coast.

“Deputies were unable to get everyone off the bus,” spokesman Don Peritz said. “We believe it’s gonna be closer to 20 fatalities.”

A Dallas County Medical Examiner told KXAS-TV that they are expecting as many as 24 fatalities.

That’s really, really sucky. I feel for their relatives. They probably weren’t expecting their relatives to die on a bus while being evacuated. It’s sort of ironic in a kinda sick way. heh. The local NBC affiliate in Dallas has a slideshow of the remains of the bus, they’ll most likely have updates as they’re available also. Dr. Steven Taylor at PoliBlog has the sad news too.

If this isn’t enough for you, check out what Basil is serving for breakfast this morning.
