Gasoline is Good

…but gas prices suck. I know, it’s expected to start going down in Ocboter or so, but that’s two months away.

I remember when I could fill my car on $15. That’s 12 gallons for $15. It runs me right about $30 to fill my car now. About $35 to fill Ashley’s car at any given gas station.

I can’t continue paying for gas if prices remain as they are. I could walk to work every day, but then I’d have to get up even earlier. And walking in the morning when I’m tired is no fun.

Gas prices here range from $2.26 to $2.55 per gallon. When I first started driving (5 years ago), I remember prices per gallon were just under $1. I would kill for those prices again.

Cheap Gas can help though. I think I’ve talked about it before. A google maps hack that finds the cheapest gas within your area. Really neat tool and probably very helpful when gasoline prices get as expensive as they are.

Personally, I think we as Americans should stop purchasing gasoline for 1 week. Just stop. That’ll make gasoline prices fall off for a while.

America’s Lethargy

DISCLAIMER: Some may take offense to this post. I touch on the subjects of racial profiling for the good of the United States. Please note, I would NOT feel this way if we were not at war. I am not a racist. I feel that radically different security measures need to be put in place before we’ll ever start to see any sort of an end to the “war on terror”. More than that, to keep American soil safe from future attacks.

I know what I believe needs to be done in the war on terror. America needs to stop being sympathetic with the enemy. I’m not criticizing how the war is going, more can be done, abroad and here at home.

Americans at home need to stop fooling themselves about Islam. We’ve seen time and time again what these jihadi crackheads are capable of. Not many Americans know why they do what they do, I’m pretty sure I do. It’s quite simple really, they don’t like us. To them, we’re invading their mother land and destorying the islamic culture with our western ways. It’s like we’re (we being the West) a legion of invading aliens.

Now, if Earth really was invaded by aliens, I’d want to kill them. Likewise, the jihadis want to kill us, the invading aliens. No matter what we do or say, they’ll want to kill us. As long as they feel western beliefs are being forced on them, they’ll want to kill us.

They wouldn’t stop hating us if we got out of Iraq (wink wink Cindy Sheehan). They are determined to get rid of us. Some of this probably falls back to our supporting Israel. Fuck that, Israel had nobody else. They wanted to destory the jews, that’s why they’re pissed we support Israel.

There won’t be an end to the jihadist way of life. The killing will continue, unless Americans come to realize exactly what we’re fighting against. For the sake of our well-being and our future, something has got to be done.

Racial profiling is a must now. We know MOST of the jihadists are of muslim descent. All islamic muslims in the U.S. should be looked at very carefully by the government. If there’s any suspicion they’re funding, fighting for, or helping in anyway a jihadist group, they should be sent away to a camp within the United States for detainment and observation.

Some may see that as extremely radical, but it’s something that has to be done eventually. I don’t see that happening soon, it’ll take another attack on American soil for this to be done. I’m not at all racist. I care for my country and I see what threatens it most right now.

As for the war on terror, we need to use more info warfare. We should have people hacking jihadi groups web servers constantly. We should be dropping pro-american propoganda from planes flying over the middle east. Along with flyers, drop med kits and basic supplies. When a major terrorist player is captured or killed, make a big deal about it! If they see some of their leaders holed up in an American prison, morale will decline.

We should be making extensive use of snipers. Snipers have got to be one of the most effective ways to demolish an opponents morale. Seeing a fellow jihadist get mowed down from 2000 yards would have to strike some ammount of fear in them. These snipers should also brag of their kills. Put them on the news nightly with updates of their kills for the day. Something to that effect would greatly raise American’s morale and greatly diminish the morale of the enemy. This war won’t be won through the traditional means. It’s going to rely heavily on how well the U.S. military can wage information warfare.

I haven’t seen much news on American propoganda being spread throughout the region. I haven’t seen news on any type of info-warfare being employed. Maybe it is being extensively used and just not spoken of at this time. I can’t say. If it’s not being talked about, it should be. It will help the average American to see exactly who we’re fighting and why we’re fighting. Because I know 90% don’t know. We had a little political discussion at work today, I can’t believe how cut-off from reality some people are.

And liberals, it’s OK to be anti-war. It’s not OK to sympathize with the enemy. America is at war. If you want to live here in 20 years you had better realize that and stop with the political correctness when dealing with the enemy living within our borders.

That is all. No links, no news items. Just some important things I’ve been meaning to say for a long time. And thank you, American soldiers, for fighting to preserve our way of life and for bringing freedom to a nation so deserving of it. I don’t thank you guys and girls enough.

The point I’m trying to make is the U.S. military needs to vastly increase the ammount of pro-U.S. propoganda they distribute. And just employ some basic information warfare tactics for the love of god. We should be annihilating these guys in the info warfare piece of this war, I haven’t seen much if any coverage of it. When a high profile target is killed, we need to let them (terrrrrists) know about it. They all need to see what happens when they’re captured.

UPDATE: So I lied, there are links. The Jawa Report passed 2,000,000 total visits. Check out that link and the graphs. Sounds like Rusty didn’t expect The Jawa Report to remain so popular after it was removed from Google News for containing “hate speech”. If that’s hate speech, then I frequently write “god damn I fucking hate you assholes speech”.

Cindy Sheehan, I Loathe

Most everyone knows that name now. Cindy Sheehan. Her son was killed in Iraq. She has been demanding face time with President Bush so she can ask him some questions. Namely, what did her son die for in Iraq?

Many high profile liberals have swallowed Cindy Sheehan whole. Cindy thinks the MSM is a propoganda tool for the government. Cindy Sheehan is a propoganda tool for democrats and anti-war liberals in general. Now, I’m not defending the MSM, but they’re not the ones to blame, neither is Bush. The lady blogs on Michael Moore’s website for gods sake, do you blame the president for not wanting to sit down with her? I know I sure as hell don’t.

Personally, if I was president, I’d give her all the face time she wanted. Just to shut her up. I understand she lost her son in Iraq, it’s her own fault she doesn’t understand the reasons for his death. It’s like she’s using her son’s death to push her own agendas and to undercut the war that this country is in.

If more of this type of thing starts happening, we’re totally fucked in Iraq and in the war on terror in general. Cindy’s mindset could spread like a cancer among military families. Prompting people to demand their kids/soldiers be sent home.

These people simply don’t understand what we’re up against. We’re not in a situation where we can just bomb strategic areas and get it over with. I truly think we should send more troops to Iraq and the Middle East. This would send a message to the jahidists that we’re not leaving until it’s over. A beefed up military prescense wouldn’t make us look too good in the eyes of the Iraqi people, but so what? We gave them freedom, I think they can handle our troops being there for a few more years.

Cindy Sheehan and the like don’t realize that we’re at war with an idea. We’re not at war with a place. We’re not at war with a specific group of people (well, maybe we are). The people that propogate these ideas of hatred towards the west need to be stopped, at any cost. If they’re not, the society we know and love will cease to exist in the near future.

Hyscience has an awesome post about Sheehan. Other families who have lost family in Iraq are speaking out against her, asking her to please stop what she’s doing. Demosophist, at The Jawa Report, has some interesting things to say about anti-war liberals in general. He also asks some good questions about why anti-war liberals pull away from liberals that support the war.

GOP Bloggers has a letter from the Sheehan family, distancing themselves from Cindy. Right Wing News thinks Cindy could be turning a profit from all this. They’re probably right. Blogs for Bush has a huge post about Cindy Sheehan. If this the first time you’ve heard of this lady, I suggest you read what they have to say. It summarizes the whole thing pretty damn well.

Oh, and Danny Carlton over at Jacklewis.net has a letter from a soldier to his mother. His mother was thinking of joining an anti-war protest. That letter should be very eye opening for some people. Danny also has lots of general info on this Cindy Sheehan story.

Other blogs writing about Sheehan include Captain’s Quarters, Riehl World View, Wizbang, and Michelle Malkin, who has a very extensive post about Cindy. I think Michelle did a great job the other night on the O’Reilly Factor.

More Daylight Saving

Assholes! Why do they insist on making daylight saving longer?

Daylight saving time will be extended a total of 4 weeks in 2007. If Bush signs the bill he’s expected to sign today. “Newswriter” at What It Is Today thinks this will actually make energy costs higher, exactly opposite of the intended effect of the bill. He’s probably not far off.

Even if oil doesn’t get more expensive due to the DST extension, the cost of upgrading various software pieces will be quite expensive. It could be argued this would have a positive impact on our economy. Creating a surge of hiring in IT departments.

There’s basically an infinite number of things that could happen though. No matter what though, some pieces of software will need fixed. The last time DST was changed was in 1987. You can always manually set the time, but that’s no fun.

It’s expected this will save 100,000 barrells of oil for every day that DST is in effect. Adding one month onto DST will save us roughly 1% on oil costs. So basically it won’t be noticed by anyone that actually buys oil products. Some of these asshats need to start thinking before they do something. And they should really start listening to the people they were elected to represent.

The Barking Moonbat headline for this really cracked me up. Congress Screws Up Technology. Geek News Central has a pretty good summary of how this could affect devices from VCR’s to mobile phones.

Bottom line is this won’t help the average american citizen at all. It’ll just create a pain in the ass for a lot of people.

UPDATE: I can’t believe I forgot. Peter Jennings died yesterday at the age fo 67. I loved watching him when I was younger. I stopped being able to watch him many years ago it seems like. I read of his death on Fark lastnight around midnight. I’m usually pretty critical of the media and people in the media. Jennings seemed like he made more of an attempt to be fair and un-biased than most reporters. MaxSpeak has an interesting note about what Jennings said about 9/11 and those involved.

An Apology from Novak

Robert Novak, well known columnist and reporter, stormed off the set of Inside Politics on CNN. The video is quite amusing. Novack says “I think that’s bullshit and I hate that” while he’s mock slapping James Carville. Mr. Carville incited the whole thing I believe. James Carville gets on my nerves. I can’t really watch him. Personally, I think he’s not from this planet…

Anyway, Novak issued an apology today, saying “I apologize for my conduct and I’m sorry I did it.” CNN isn’t letting him on air anymore for a while. Novak said “I’ll follow their guidance”, not like he has a choice or anything.

Captain’s Quarters has an update that pretty much sums the whole thing up. Kevin at Wizbang has some interesting things to say about the book that’s on the table before Novak walks off. And the great Dr. Rusty Shackleford thinks Novak is just a whiny bitch. Pretty amusing.
