I changed the WordPress theme for this site. I didn’t really like the looks of the old one anymore and it had this funky thing going on at the very top of the page. There was a little white space at the top that I could’t get to go away. I’d seen this theme in use a few places and really liked it.
The theme I’m using now is Almost Spring by Beccary. I modified the colors a bit, but that’s basically it. I didn’t want to have the default greenish look that others use. I don’t know how satisfied I am with these colors, but they’ll do for now. I have this awesome color selecting site bookmarked at work, so I may decide to change colors a bit. I can’t find the site now that I’m at home, so I just randomly picked similar colors I guess.
We’ve made some major changes to Take Back The News. The site now shares a a template with Blogs of War and like Blogs of War it’s powered by WordPress. This will streamline our administrative work, get more stories “above the fold”, and eventually allow us to deploy some interesting features. Uniting the two sites with a common platform and look and feel will also allow readers of the two sites to more easily navigate between them. My focus here at Blogs of War won’t be changing but I think it’s cool that Blogs of War readers can now click on the the TBTN link under the logo and get a much more complete (and hopefully interesting) take on the rest of the news.
Animals with partly human organs. Said organs include livers, hearts, and brains. A sheep with a human brain can’t be a good idea, even if it’s only a small percentage “human”.
I do enjoy reading about all the mad scientists and their genetic adventures, but something bad will eventually come from this type of thing. The researcher in the story is going to euthanize one of the pregnant sheep in the coming months. I’d also be very interested to see what affects the human genetics has on the sheeps cells.
Two guys from Mediacom came out to my place this morning. They ended up fixing my internet and my TV looks a lot better now too. Basically they had to pull new cable into my apartment as they were pulling the old out. They found a couple old shitty splitters that had basically fallen apart. I don’t know how any of it worked. They also made my living room look better by putting a splitter above the ceiling for me, so there’s no more cables going up into the ceiling.
A manager named Dave called me to make sure everything went alright. I also spoke to Scott, a regional vice president yesterday. He wanted me to call him back if things didn’t go well today.
Anyway, I’m much happier now that I have internet at home again. I’m glad this didn’t end up being a 2 month thing.
Court authorized wiretaps in the U.S. surged 19% in 2004 to 1,710. Court orders relating to terror-related investigations are not included in the wiretap statistics and those warrants reached a record 1,754 last year. Apparently judges have found that law enforcement is unbelievably perfect as they rubber-stamped approvals on every single request they received.
