A USA Today article via Blogs of War:
Pfc. Lynndie England, the Army reservist shown in some of the most notorious photos in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, will plead guilty to abusing Iraqi detainees in a case that sparked global outrage against the United States and its military.
England, 22, faces a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison as part of the plea deal, which still must be accepted by a military judge, her attorney, Rick Hernandez, said Friday. She had been facing up to 16 years.
The plea deal came four days before England was scheduled to go on trial in a military court in Fort Hood.
That’s almost funny, but sad really. What else can she do though?

Saw this on SincereTheory:

Here is a Google mashup website combining all of the popular Google searches into one page. What’s better? There is a checkbox to open the results in a new tab!
It’d be awesome if the open in new tab feature worked. It just opens a new window for me in FireFox 1.0.3. Either way it’s a handy site for easily and quickly searching google using their special search tools.
Heres a link.

Via Fox’s Corner:
I’m just getting into this pagerank stuff. How long or how many links and such does it take to reach a pagerank of at least 1?
I’ve been sort of wondering about that myself lately. This new domain, www.longren.org, has a PR of 0 after about a month in service. I have OK incoming links and I’d say pretty good outgoing links. I don’t really know how much the outbound links matter though. My old domain, longren.no-ip.org has a PR of 3. Both pages have the same content, so the different PR’s is sorta confusing to me.
GoogleBot is constantly hitting the longren.org domain. It’s basically going through my entire archive and everything else. I’ve been actively promoting the new domain by getting people to add me to their blogrolls mostly.

Since this book has been out for a little while now, it’s being offered for free in PDF format at the Bruce Perens’ Open Source Series site. The entire 720 pages (9.3MB) can be downloaded from this URL:
http://www.phptr.com/content/…/downloads/013147149X_book.pdf
It’s pretty kick ass they’re letting these books be distributed freely over the internet. Bruce Perens site I mentioned before actaully has a few free books that could be worth downloading. I was suprised at the number of books they’re offering. All you people just getting into PHP should probably check it out.

This kid got arrested at a Jack in the Box restaurant for using a $100 bill from 1974. His granmother had mailed the $100 bill to him. He tried paying for his food and the food of 4 girls he had with him using the said bill. Neither the employees or police officers recognized the bill as “real” money. Judge Jefferson D. Hughes III wrote “‘Old’ currency is still legal tender of the United States.” He goes on further “Citizens should not be at risk for spending legal tender.”
I’d flip out on those cops if they had arrested me for that. If they can’t tell it’s real money, they shouldn’t be police officers. I’m pretty sure I could decide if a bill was real or not, even if it was from 1974.

I changed the WordPress theme for this site. I didn’t really like the looks of the old one anymore and it had this funky thing going on at the very top of the page. There was a little white space at the top that I could’t get to go away. I’d seen this theme in use a few places and really liked it.
The theme I’m using now is Almost Spring by Beccary. I modified the colors a bit, but that’s basically it. I didn’t want to have the default greenish look that others use. I don’t know how satisfied I am with these colors, but they’ll do for now. I have this awesome color selecting site bookmarked at work, so I may decide to change colors a bit. I can’t find the site now that I’m at home, so I just randomly picked similar colors I guess.
Anyone have any thoughts on the new theme?
