So, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory came out lastnight. I’m heading over to Ames this afternoon after work to pick it up. I’m really excited to give the cooperative mission a try. It’s gotta be wicked fun playin along with someone else. I think the cooperative stuff even works over Xbox Live and XBC (Xbox Connect).
I don’t know why people pay for an XBL subscription when XBC is around, XBC is much better in my opinion. Although the stats that XBL keeps on games is pretty kick ass. I keep hoping the XBC people will come up with something similar. Maybe XBC keeps stats for their real “customers”, ones that pay for their service. I’ve always just used their free service.
I wish I could find a good Xbox tunnel program for Linux so I could get rid of that one windows machine I have left at home. The closest thing I’ve found for Linux is XBox Gateway. As you can probably tell from their homepage, it’s not being developed any longer. And from what I’ve seen of it, you need to have friends using it as well, and you must know their IP address. It’s really a pretty sucky option. I wonder if XBconnect would work on Linux if I were to setup WINE…

So I upgraded this box to Slackware 10.1 today. While I was at it, I installed the new Dropline Gnome 2.10 Beta. It’s really nice so far. A few really obvious changes, but it all works very well. I haven’t really gotten the chance to test it out much yet, but I expect it’ll go pretty well.
I don’t know when the developers are planning on coming out with a stable release, but the mailing list has been really busy lately with fixes for this beta release.

I’m about gonna bring a law suit against my landlord.
1. Dishwasher broken, promised to be fixed multiple times. A slight tug on the front of it will cause the dishwasher to almost fall out of it’s place in the counter. I don’t think it’s even hooked up.
2. The carpet in my office was supposed to be replaced before Ashley even moved in. It still hasn’t been replaced. It smells like cat piss due to the previous owners. Not so bad now that there’s about 200 candles in here.
3. There’s a leak in the closet in my office, very near the floor. I noticed a few days ago the floor was damp and it got my socks all wet.
I just removed Ashley’s christmas tree from the closet to prevent it from getting moldy and icky. After removing the christmas tree, I was able to see more where the leak is at. It’s right at the bottom of the closet somewhere. The carpet it so shitty I was able to pull it right up. The padding under the carpet is sopping wet, as is the cement under that.
I have yet to tell him about the leak in my office because he’s on vacation in Africa. Once he gets back I’m demanding to have the carpet replaced in my office, if he doesn’t, he won’t be getting much rent money from me. Why should I have to pay to live in these conditions when I could do so for free outside? This guy spends $0 on maintenance on this place…seriously.

I finally got around to beating the first Splinter Cell game on Xbox a few weeks ago. After doing so, I went out and bought Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow. I just beat that game yesterday. Pandora Tomorrow is a hell of a lot easier than the first Splinter Cell game.
Pandora Tomorrow only took me about a week to beat. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is supposed to be coming out sometime this month, I’m prolly gonna pick it up as soon as it’s out. Chaos Theory supposedly has a cooperative campaign mode, that should be interesting.
I got my new video card working. I get an average of 3100fps, a lot better than the 100fps I was getting with my Radeon. This machine has a much snappier feel to it now. I am very happy with it.
I need to get heading to work now though. Boo! I hope I’m done before noon so I can make it out to my mom’s house before 1:00 so I can eat with them. Jessica is supposed to get confirmed today, I can’t make cuz of work though.

I’ve been really busy lately. I worked basically all weekend at the warehouse in Ankeny and at home. I think we’re making pretty good progress with the order verification system. I expect to have it up and running fully by Wednesday or Thursday. There’s a few issues with scanning certain UPC codes and an few issues that can easily be fixed by modifying our export order process.
I plan to implement these fixes tomorrow. I’ll probably have to go to Ankeny tomorrow to program the flatbed scanner a little differently. Doing so should fix the issues with scanning those few UPCs. PSC’s help forum has been a great help.
As you can probably imagine, I didn’t get a chance to upgrade this machine to Slackware 10.1 this weekend. Hopefully I can do it next weekend. I’ll have a new graphics card for it by then. I ordered an MSI Geforce FX5200U-TD128. Direct Rendering (DRI) hasn’t been working in the new Xorg with my Radeon 7200. The shitty frame rates are no longer tolerable. I’ve been using the gateway PC I got from work more than my main PC due to it’s crap video performance. I did a lot of research before buying a card, and this one works very well with Slackware and Dropline Gnome. Mostly due to the great driver provided by Nvidia. I’m very excited to recieve it.

God this is funny. Russell Crowe said the FBI contacted him in 2001 telling him he was a potential kidnap target for al-Qeada.
All part of a plot to take our hollywood elite away from us to cause “cultural destabilization”. Americans must really be seen by the rest of the world as hardcore pussies if taking away actors and those types will supposedly cause our society to collapse.
Or, like the website I read this on speculates, maybe the FBI just overheard someone talking about how good of an actor russell crowe is. I can’t believe Google News actually links to shit ass news sources like this:
