I’m mostly done moving in now. Hopefully the cable will be installed soon. If you’re reading this, then it has been installed. :)
Anyway, the Iraqi elections went over pretty well. From what I heard, there wasn’t too much violence around the country. The only news source I had during all this was ABC, CBC, NBC, and Fox (not Fox News)…so I felt kinda left out. I wish I would have had internet access so I could have read all the blogs yesterday.
I tried to read a couple today @ work but I was really busy all day. Did more work on the order verification system. It’s slowly but surely getting there.
I’ve got all my pc’s running in my new place now. The router is patiently waiting for an IP address from Mediacom. As soon as it gets one, this website will be back online.
Yup, I’m moving out of the tin box I now live in. I’ll be moving in with Ashley this weekend. Brad’s girlfriend is gonna be moving in with him soon, so it’s definately for the best.
I called Mediacom lastnight to get the cable shut off at the tin box. That’s supposed to happen saturday. I also scheduled an installation date for them to activate the cable at Ashleys place. The first time they can make it out is Feb. 23. I’m pissed off. I can’t deal without internet for that long. I plan on calling them again tonight and reminding them that I work from home (which I do sometimes), so waiting a month for service isn’t an option.
I was reading the Mediacom forums today on dslreports.com and noticed a guy had mentioned he put in a call for repair. He also mentioned that Mediacom would have someone to his place by “the end of the week”. So, there’s no way in hell I’m gonna wait that long. They’ll lose me as a customer if I do.
So, this website might not be around for a little while. I’m planning on moving it over to a server here @ work so it’s not completely offline for an extended period of time. I’m excited to move though. I don’t like living in my current residence anymore.
Slackware 10.1 Beta 1 is available as slackware-current. Patrick says he still isn’t fully better. There’s quite a bit of info in the slackware-current changelog.
So, Slackware 10.1 should be here fairly soon. I’m excited as usual. :)
I gotta go down to Ankeny for work today. We’re starting to implement some big changes in the warehouse down there. It’s all very exciting. I’ll give details at a later date.
I’m not very active in the development of www.djpi.net anymore but the site is in need of a new host again. I got a few months of free hosting for the site from one of my previous employers.
If anyone here knows where I can obtain free hosting that includes PHP, MySQL, Apache, and prefferably ssh access. I’ve contacted a few places already, none seem too willing to donate, understandingly.
I would host it here if I had more bandwidth, but I don’t. I barely have enough for this site. DJ Pi’s site goes through a decent ammount of bandwidth in a month and gets a good number of hits. So, if you can provide or know where I can obtain these services, please let me know!
Spc. Charles Graner Jr., I really do feel sorry for the guy. He got a pretty shitty deal from this Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal crapola. He was convicted of two counts of conspiracy, one count of dereliction of duty, four counts of maltreatment of detainees, one count of aggravated assault and one count of an indecent act.
He claims to have been just following orders, which he probably was. The blame for this thing shouldn’t be placed on the lower level service men and women. The people who ordered them to do these things should be held accountable.
But, I think the whole idea of not being forceful with these detainees is stupid. I mean, what’s the point in treating them like humans? If we know they’ve commited acts of violence in the past, they deserve the same treatment in return.
