Slackware 10.0 Final

Slackware 10.0 was released a couple days ago. Nothing was changed from RC2. I’m blanking a cd-rw as we speak so I can burn and install disc 1 of Slackware 10.0 and then install Dropline Gnome on top of that. A lengthy list of changes from 9.1 to 10.0 can be found in the Changelog at slackware.com.

Drug tax stamps

This is hilarious. I was trying to find out WHY there are drug tax stamps for marijuana (and other drugs). While I was searching, I found this website:
http://www.ksrevenue.org/perstaxtypesdrug.htm#top

It explains how drug dealers in Kansas can obtain tax stamps for their marijuana. Why the hell would a drug dealer do this? It says that the dealers info can’t be given to law enforcement, but I doubt that is true.

If it is true, isn’t the government sending 2 different messages? Marijuana is an illegal drug. Yet, they have stamps for it, which have to be (supposed to be) with the marijuana when it is sold. I have never personally seen a marijuana tax stamp. It’s just stupid!

Rail guns in the Navy

Yeah! In 2011, the U.S. Navy is slated to come out with integrated power system (IPS)/electric drive warships. These ships will be known as the DD(X). Anyway, these ships will supposedly boast rail guns. Anyone who’s ever played Quake should know what these are. In Quake, when person is shot with a rail gun, their body literally explodes. It’s sort of a difficult weapon to use in Quake, cuz your shot has to be right on. The rail guns the navy is talking about will have the ability to shoot 250+ miles.

Railguns are typically microwave, laser, or electromagnetic-kinetic weapons. It all sounds really neat:

Slack 10 rc2

Slackware 10.0-rc2 is already here. I hope this is going to be a fast release candidate series. Lots of Gnome packages were updated in this round of updates.

Us or Them

Another American hostage (Paul Johnson) got his head whacked, this time in the house of Saud (Saudi Arabia). Before all of this ends, it’s gonna have to be us or them (them being islamic extremists). Either they let go of their extremest views on islam or we kill them. I’ve had the sense for a while now that we’re going to kill all of them, or they’re going to kill all of us. I’d say right now, the odds are in their favor.

On a lighter note, I finally got me a jizzob (job in non-ebonics)! I’ve gotta go in to Moms Meals for my first day on Monday at 8:00 am. I haven’t been up at 8:00 am for a very long time. I guess I have gone to sleep around then, but haven’t actually awoken from sleep that early for a long time.

Slackware 10.0 RC1

Slackware 10.0 Release Candidate 1 has been released. It was announced in the slackware-current ChangeLog yesterday. This is very exciting. I haven’t tried the -current branch yet, but from what I’ve heard, the startup scripts are supposed to be greatly improved. iproute2 also comes with Slack now. I’m upgrade to 10.0 RC1 as soon as I’m done rsyncing it from the slackware.no mirror. Below is the announcement:
