One cow in Washington state has been confirmed as being infected with Mad Cow Disease. I read somewhere that it was a dairy cow anyway. And mad cow disease isn’t known to be transmitted through milk.
Anyway, the reason I’m metioning this here is because Japan and South Korea seem to think this is serious enough to ban all beef imports from the U.S. They must have some sort of screwed up administration like we do here in the states. Why would they ban beef imports from the U.S. due to one dairy cow being infected? Fucking idiots. That’s all I got to say.

I came up to my dads house in Wisconsin tonight. I got here around 7:00 I think…I dun really remember. Not sure when I’ll be goin back to Chicago. I’d like to go back to Iowa for new years, I dunno if that will happen or not.
I’m using my step-mom’s (Carol) tablet PC with WinXP on it. It’s pretty neat. It’s nice being able to post this while watching King of the Hill on a 65″ T.V.. The keyboard on this tablet PC is kinda small, but I guess thats the point. This is the first time I’ve gotten to use the wireless connection here at Dad’s since he set it up. Works pretty well. Dad and carol are opening a Coffee Gallery next month. You can view the beautiful website at http://www.wanderlustcoffeegallery.com. The name of the coffee shop/art gallery is Wanderlust Coffee Gallery. It sounds like they’ve got a pretty good location, so hopefully everything goes well.

Yay! The threat level in the U.S. has been raised to Orange (High Risk). What’s that mean to me? Nothing.
How can the DHS expect people to take this seriously for much longer? I didn’t take it seriously to begin with. They never provide any evidence to support the change in threat level. Never. Tom Ridge always gives some bull-shit, ambiguous evidence that doesn’t really mean anything. It sounds like he’s just guessing there’s a reason to raise the threat level. Heh..threat level.

Linux Kernel 2.6.0 was release tonight. I’m compiling it right now. Hopefully I’ll be one of the lucky people to notice a speed increase on the desktop. Supposedly 2.6.0 has made speed improvements all around. I was able to download 2.6.0 from kernel.org at around 550k/sec. That’s cuz we finally got the DS-3 up here in Chicago. It makes working really, really nice. Doing stuff on the internet is sooo much quicker. Going home to my lowly cable connection won’t be so great.
Anyway, hurray for kernel 2.6.0!

I decided to come back to Iowa for the weekend. I’m probably gonna be going back to Chicago sometime on Monday.
MCI hasn’t been at all helpful with getting our DS-3 connection installed. One of their employees, who isn’t even assigned to our project, ended up connecting everything for us. We couldn’t get anybody else to do it on the MCI end.
Hopefully the Cisco 7206 router will be fully configured when I get back on Monday. That way we don’t have to use AOL dial-up for internet access. Hasn’t been a good couple of weeks.

I’ve been in Chicago since last Sunday. We left from Des Moines around 11:00 PM, made it to Chicago by 3:30, got to bed early Monday morning around 6:30.
Since then we’ve been working on getting the new office setup. The internet connection is supposed to be here tomorrow. We’re getting a DS3 connection. The server cabinets are all setup and ready to go.
I’ll post more on dis later.
