Major upgrades

I’ve upgraded to Apache 2.0.43. It seems to work fine so far. I’ve actually been running it for a few days now. While I was at it, I upgraded to PHP 4.3.0-dev. I also upgraded to MySQL 4.0.4-beta. So far, everything works without flaw. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Software upgrades

I upgraded to Apache 1.3.27 and MySQL 3.23.53 today. I enjoy running the latest, stable versions of software. I don’t want to run Apache 2 yet cuz I don’t like it. It’s too big and bloated compared to 1.3.x.

Brad Banks

I went to a party Saturday night with Kristin, Brad F, and Mike B. We were just sitting in somebody’s house and in walked Brad Banks, starting quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He came down to ISU after his game on Saturday. He came in a bus that his friend owned. The bus had a big screen TV and surround sound. It had three kegs and a couch in it. Brad F. and I hang out with Brad Banks for a while in his bus. After Brad Banks had been there for a while, everybody realized who he was and started talking to him, so he decided to leave. Who would have thought I would have ever partied with Brad Banks? Not me.

Setiqueue server running

Lastnight, I installed SetiQueue on malus (the notebook). This way, if the internet goes down for a long time again, we’ll still be able to get seti@home work units to all the machines in the house. If you run seti@home, you can use my setiqueue server too. Just set your seti@home client to use this proxy:
longren.no-ip.org:5517

It should let you start get work units right away. If it doesn’t, let me know.

Internet outage

My internet connection took a dump on me lastnight around 5:00 pm. It was out until sometime today. I guess a router died somewhere at Mediacom. I don’t understand why it takes so damn long to get it going again. I wish they would have just asked me to come in to help when I called tech support lastnight. I probably could have fixed it right then and there.

Incubus Concert

I attended the Incubus concert tonight in Ames. Again, I was greatly disappointed. They only played new songs. I heard about one song from the older albums. The crowd was also very disappointing. Don’t waste money going to see Incubus. I got more enjoyment out of watching the opening band (Home Town Hero).
