We’re no longer located at longren.d2g.com. The DNS2Go service decided they needed to start charging money for their service. I don’t want to pay any money, so I moved to another free service called No-IP.
I picked No-IP because they have a pretty nice linux client. It works well on the router, so it was really easy to set up. It took about 5 minutes to do.
I had a good weekend. I went to a party here in Ames on Friday night. I got home around 9:00 saturday morning.
I went up to UNI on saturday to visit Kristin. Her family was up there for family weekend. We went to the UNI football game. Didn’t do much of anything on Saturday night.
Yesterday I did homework and tried fixing the dreamcast. Tonight I’m going to see if I can find a used dreamcast somewhere, I broke mine.
I removed the router lastnight. I made the web server (vectraxw) into the router. The previous router didn’t like to come up nicely after the power goes out. I think it was because of the SCSI raid card that’s in it. Anyway, vectraxw functions as the router/webserver/ftp server now.
I also upgraded the kernel on vectraxw to 2.4.20-pre6. I’ll probably upgrade it to -pre7 sometime today. Nightengale just got upgraded to -pre7.
I upgraded the kernel on nightengale to 2.4.20-pre6. I’ve fallen behind in kernels. VectraXW (the web server) is still running 2.4.18 (the latest stable is 2.4.19). I don’t think I’ll be able to get 2.4.19 to work on VectraXW though because it failed horribly while booting on another machine (the router), which is the same type of machine as VectraXW.
2.4.19 even broke some stuff on nightengale. It broke my mouse if one of the usb modules were compiled as a module (as opposed to being compiled into the kernel).
