Well, I decided I should finally go to work today. I went in to apply a whole bunch of security patches. I also upgraded a lot of packages to newer versions located in slackware-current. I think I’ll go back in on Friday to upgrade the kernel.
I just got done upgrading from 2.2.20 to 2.4.18. This is the first time this box has had a 2.4.x kernel on it. I’ve wanted to keep a 2.2.x kernel on it simply because they’re known to be stable. I feel that it’s time to begin using 2.4 on production machines.
DO NOT buy an IBM 75gxp hdd. I was using one as my main hdd on nightengale. This hdd contained all of my database info. Of course, I didn’t back anything up. This drive failed on me a few days ago. So I’ve been rebuilding like crazy for a while. I’m gonna RMA the drive and hopefully get a new one.
